Groundwater quality and quantity data from EIAs and EPEAs

This database contains groundwater quality and quantity data compiled by contract 20AEM841 from environmental impact assessment studies (EIA) and compliance industry groundwater monitoring (EPEA) from 1998 to 2018. The data have not been collected by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and they do not fit any data quality standards and are being provided 'as collected' from their original sources. Since the data have been collected by independent sources it is impossible to ensure that the same collection methods and laboratorial protocols, or protocols with similar detection limits, were followed. It is also impossible to ensure that the data were QA/QCd and cleaned up prior their publication and what the QA/QC procedures were. The nomenclature used for parameters diverges from source to source and multiple terms are used for the same parameter. It is also possible that a given name attributed to a single parameter collected by multiple sources includes data that have been sampled with different techniques and measured using distinct laboratorial procedures. Relevant metadata on the sampling wells are not available for all wells too. The conditions above interfere with the data analysis and limit the interpretation of the results. It is imperative that the user of these data performs a detailed evaluation of the data, of their usefulness for the problem in analysis, and interprets the results with caution.
