2023 Wetland Growing Season Local Hydrology

Local hydrology data for 2023 growing season (May - October) for wetland (bog, fen, swamp, shallow open water) monitoring sites across the AOSR. Stilling wells are installed adjacent to vegetation Transect 1 at Plot 3. Water level (meters) is measured relative to the top of the stilling well (i.e. reference position), and water table depth (meters above ground surface) is corrected to ground level. Positive values represent flooded conditions.

Data are unavailable for six stations due to either instrument error or equipment loss (e.g. wildlife): MGS01 (AB07DC0790); CWW01 (AB07CD0420); AZF02 (AB07CE1050); AZS01 (AB07CE1020); GYW02 (AB07CE1060); and KLW01 (AB07DA3830).

An error has been identified for three stations (IMP03 [AB07DC0720], NMW01 [AB07CD0470], and SRW01 [AB07DA3850]). Logger data show the water table below ground surface for July when in-person field visits confirmed flooded conditions during this time frame. This error may be due to ground movement during the Spring thaw, and may apply to more than the three stations identified above. The trend in water level over time is consistent with expectations for each wetland class, but the absolute values are likely incorrect relative to ground surface.
